“1Let not your hearts be troubled.  Believe in God; believe also in Me.  2In my Father’s house are many rooms.  If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?  3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also.” John 14:1-3 (ESV)

Time to Ponder – Section 1

PERSONAL REFLECTION – I look forward to my future heavenly blessing God has in store for me.  I know this world is not my home and while it can be full of troubles and tribulations I can be filled with joy knowing this is not my forever.  How about you? Are you feeling overwhelmed and unsure about your future? Do you know without a doubt that Jesus is your personal Lord and Savior and that He’s in Heaven right now preparing a place for all His children? By faith you can claim this amazing promise straight from the words of God, the Creator and Lover of your soul.

Section 2 – WHAT IS YOUR WITNESS?

Open your Bible, Fill your Heart - a heart filled

What is your witness?Oh, how important it is to fill our minds with those things that truly matter. But, what does that really mean? Well, when we walk closely beside our Creator, we find out! When we open our Bible and center our hearts and minds on God, He speaks and we listen.  We pray and He reveals even more. All of these amazing steps prepare us for everything we encounter as we make our way through this world, and we begin to see things through God’s eyes. We see ALL He’s doing in and around us, and then we share those wonderful stories with those around us. That’s a witness worth having!

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:

  • 1 Peter 3:14-17
  • 2 Timothy 4:1-5

“14But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. ‘And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.’ 15But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; 16having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. 17For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.“ 1 Peter 3:14-17 (NKJV)

“1I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he appears to set up his Kingdom: 2Preach the word of God.  Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not.  Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.  3For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching.  They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.  4They will reject the truth and chase after myths.  5But you should keep a clear mind in every situation.  Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord.  Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God had given you.” 2 Timothy 4:1-5 (NLT)

Time to Ponder – Section 2

PERSONAL REFLECTION – My hope is in the Lord.  He gives me the renewed strength I need to muster through each day here on earth.  I know as long as I keep Him close I can handle what life throws my way.  It’s not always easy, but He lightens the load! He blesses me, wraps His arms around me, walks beside me, and even carries me at times.  I am far from perfect, filled with flaws, yet He loves me just the same.  His grace and love inspire me to be more like Him each day, and I pray it will inspire you too!!

I believe everything has gone through His loving hands before they reach me and because of this I can do all things through Him.  What about you? Did you believe this is true for you as well? I am constantly sending arrow prayers up to Heaven because I know God is there watching over me and I NEED His help daily, hourly, constantly.  So, go to our Heavenly Father in prayer. Pour out your heart to Him. He is ready and waiting. He will lighten your load, bless you, wrap His arms around you, walk beside you, and even carry you if you need Him to! God LOVES you so much!

Section 4 – HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT CHRIST’S PRECIOUS BLOOD?

Open your Bible, Fill your Heart - a heart filled

Have you heard about Christ’s precious blood? – His redeeming blood paid the price for our sins. In a world where we all fall short, we can be filled with hope knowing our human flaws don’t define our future. Christ’s precious blood washed our sins white as snow. Have faith! There is POWER in His blood!

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:

  • Colossians 1:13-14
  • 1 Peter 1:18-19

“8But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.  9And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, He will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.” Romans 5:8-9 (NLT)

Time to Ponder – Section 4

PERSONAL REFLECTION – God’s reassuring hope is what keeps me singing as I go!  Jesus paid the ultimate price for ALL OF OUR SINS, because He LOVES us!!  My heart is filled with hope because I know He’s with me and cares for me.  I am thankful I am accepted, His grace is sufficient, and I’m looking forward to the day I will see Him face to face.  The promise of an eternity in Heaven with Him is my hope and I pray it’s yours too!

Trusting in Him has filled my heart with a joy only God bestows, and it surpasses all life’s ups and downs. “19For God in all His fullness was pleased to live in Christ, 20and through Him God reconciled everything to Himself.  He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.  21This includes you who were once far away from God.  You were His enemies, separated from Him by your evil thoughts and actions.  22Yet now He has reconciled you to Himself through the death of Christ in His physical body.  As a result, He has brought you into His own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before Him without a single fault.” Colossians 1:19-22 (NLT)

“So also Jesus suffered and died outside the city gates to make His people holy by means of His own blood.” Hebrews 13:12 (NLT)

Time to Ponder – Section 5

PERSONAL REFLECTION – Jesus shed His blood for ALL of us! His ultimate sacrifice made the way for each one of His children to come to Him personally. Jesus felt the pain, experiencing first hand what this world can dish out, and knows our hearts. He understands it all! Do you believe Jesus (aka God) came to earth, born of a virgin birth? Do you believe He died on the cross for your sins and was then resurrected? Take heart! JESUS IS ALIVE, in Heaven, preparing a place for His children! He is our advocate. He knows the struggle is real, cuz He lived it. But, He also laid down His life so we could one day live together with Him for all of eternity. How uplifting is that?! We have a home in glory waiting for us!

Section 6 – DID YOU KNOW THERE’S AN AMAZING HELPER AVAILABLE?

Open your Bible, Fill your Heart - a heart filled

Did you know there’s an amazing helper available? – Because of Jesus’ sacrifice we not only gain freedom but we also tap into God’s reassuring HOPE! And, we can assuredly claim this hope, because He moves right in. Our helper – The Holy Spirit available to all of those who call upon His name!  This, my friend is literally A HEART FILLED!  What makes this even better is when we accept salvation our hope lies in the promise that one day soon we will see Him face to face.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:

  • 1 Peter 3:18
  • 2 Corinthians 3:16-18
  • Acts 2:38

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the Spirit.” 1 Peter 3:18 (ESV)

“16But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.  17Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.  18And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.  For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:16-18 (ESV)

“Peter replied, ‘Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.  Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’” Acts 2:38 (NLT)

Time to Ponder – Section 6

PERSONAL REFLECTION – The Holy Spirit is my helper! He alone is all I need to face each day. I must remember to allow Him to intercede and be my daily guide. How amazing it is to know we all can experience the Holy Spirit?! Is the Holy Spirit living inside you? Have you called upon His name and invited Him in? Do you know what I mean when I say “allow Him to intercede and daily guide me”? If you’ve accepted salvation, He’s there – living in your heart! <<You have a heart filled with WONDER-working purpose!!!>> AND, when you open your heart to receive His guidance and direction in your life you can rest assured He’s gonna help out, because He wants to be at work in your life. Remember, though, God’s timing is NOT ours. So, be patient and be still. He will intercede; He will guide you.

Section 7 – HAVE YOU MADE ROOM?

Open your Bible, Fill your Heart - a heart filled

Have you made room? – Do you know without a doubt God is your personal Savior and Lord?  Do you earnestly seek Him with all your heart and all your soul?

A Heart Filled With A Purpose - Bible Study

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:

  • Ephesians 2:8-9
  • Romans 3:22-24
  • Hebrews 11:1-3
  • Romans 10:17
  • Jeremiah 29:13
  • John 8:32

“For by grace you have been saved through faith.  And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 (ESV)

“22We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ.  And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.  23For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.  24Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous.  He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins.” Romans 3:22-24 (NLT)

“1Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.  2For by it the people of old received their commendation.  3By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.” Hebrews 11:1-3 (ESV)

“So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.” Romans 10:17 (NLT)

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV)

“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32 (NLT)

Time to Ponder – Section 7

PERSONAL REFLECTION – Making room is the first step to a heart filled with purpose. To continue I must center my heart on God daily. I must let go and let Him. Life’s distractions can really detour us down pathways not aligned with God’s will. Be alert! Staying close to God is a choice we make each and every single day we are alive. Have you let go and let Him lately? Add this to your prayers! —> “Lord, center my heart around you.”

Section 8 – DO YOU BELIEVE?

Open your Bible, Fill your Heart - a heart filled

Do you believe? – If you believe, you WILL be saved!

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:

  • Acts 2:21
  • Romans 10:9-10

“And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Acts 2:21 (ESV)

Time to Ponder – Section 8

PERSONAL REFLECTION – Being a Christian isn’t always easy. The world is not always for us. In all honesty, it’s usually against us. But, calling on the Lord’s name, accepting what the Bible says about me as a sinner, knowing Jesus was born of a virgin birth, believing without a doubt that Jesus died for my sins, and accepting God as my personal Lord and Savior was the best decision I have ever made and the only way I want to live my life. I pray those reading this will know they too are freely given this choice, and won’t regret it. BEST. THING. EVER. What do you believe? Do you know God as your personal Lord and Savior?

Section 9 – HAVE YOU HEARD THE GOOD NEWS?

Open your Bible, Fill your Heart - a heart filled

Have you heard the good news? – Salvation is for EVERYONE!

A Heart Filled With A Purpose - Bible Study

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:

  • Romans 10:11-13

“11As the Scriptures tell us, ‘ANYONE who trusts in Him will never be disgraced.’  12Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect.  They have the same Lord, who gives generously to ALL who call on Him.  For EVERYONE who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:11-13 (NLT)

Time to Ponder – Section 9

PERSONAL REFLECTION – I just love how God LOVES and there’s plenty to go around! God has the WHOLE world in His hands. We have all been created in His image. God’s grace is sufficient and his forgiveness is forever! Salvation is for EVERYONE who calls upon His name. What do you think about this good news? Have you shared this good news with others lately?

How are you living? – We get to choose how we live.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:

  • Galatians 5:1
  • Romans 6:6-7
  • Galatians 5:13

“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1 (ESV)

“6We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives.  We are no longer slaves to sin.  7For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.” Romans 6:6-7 (NLT)

“For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters.  But don’t use our freedom to satisfy your sinful nature.  Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.” Galatians 5:13 (NLT)

Time to Ponder – Section 10

PERSONAL REFLECTION – With free will comes restraint! Definitely something I have to rein in at times. More often than I’d like to admit…I mean after all I’m human. I do get to choose how I live, but I know I need to chase after God’s will. Can you imagine if the whole world was walking in God’s will, and nothing else? How amazing would that be! Are you chasing after God’s will? If you stumble along the way, give yourself grace, pick yourself back up and point your heart towards to the cross!

Section 11 – CAN YOU REALLY ADMIT IT?

Open your Bible, Fill your Heart - a heart filled

Can you really admit it? – It takes genuine repentance. A heart filled with purpose knows the important role repentance plays in a life lived for Christ. ADMIT! BELIEVE! CONFESS!

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:

  • Psalm 51:1-10

“1Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love.  Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins.  2Wash me clean from my guilt.  Purify me from my sin.  3For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night.  4Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight.  You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just.  5For I was born a sinner – yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.  6But you desire honesty from the womb (heart), teaching me wisdom even there.  7Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.  8Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me – now let me rejoice.  9Don’t keep looking at my sins.  Remove the stain of my guilt.  10Create in me a clean heart, O God.  Renew a loyal spirit within me.” Psalm 51:1-10 (NLT)

Time to Ponder – Section 11

PERSONAL REFLECTION – I believe!  I have accepted salvation as a gift given to me freely.  Oh, how I know I am a sinner, and know I need God’s grace, love, and mercy to see me through each day.  I believe God is my Creator and Jesus died for my sins and as a Christian I am confident that I’m filled with the Holy Spirit.  What about you? Can you humbly admit you too are a sinner in need of God’s forgiving grace? Can you say without a doubt you are a Christian saved by God’s AMAZING GRACE?

Section 12 – WHAT YOU BELIEVE MATTERS!

Open your Bible, Fill your Heart - a heart filled

What you believe matters! – Our beliefs shape us and make us into the people we are.  Our beliefs secure our eternity.  We were created for a purpose and only God knows our future.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10 (ESV)

Time to Ponder – Section 12

PERSONAL REFLECTION – I love knowing God’s purpose for my life far exceeds anything I can imagine! I love knowing that God’s purpose for all my fellow believers is also way more than I can ever dream of. I believe we can all fill our heart with what matters most. So, where’s your heart? Do you have a heart filled with purpose? Does your heart overflow with what matters most? Are you seeking God’s will for your life? Open up your heart, lift up a prayer, and live out God’s purpose for you life!

a heart filled with a purpose

A note from the author –

I love spending time in God’s Word, the Bible.  I believe God’s Word is a book of truth, and I love studying it wholeheartedly! The words found in the Bible ARE God-breathed, and a treasure worth seeking.  It is very important that I understand what I am reading and in order to do this I pray for God’s guidance during my devotion time with Him.  It is my prayer that those reading this will also seek God’s guidance, take the time needed to really let it all soak in, marvel in its glory, and reach out for help in areas that may not be clear to them.

To study it more in depth, I love flipping through various versions of the Bible, as some verses will jump out more to me with a certain translation than others.  However, I use this method with caution and always back up what I’m reading with further research into the Scripture, asking God to reveal His words more clearly to me.  God’s Word is studied as a whole in my life.  Every single verse was written with purpose and nothing should be excluded.  I believe Christians continually learn, grow, and gain wisdom through their daily walk with their Lord and Savior, and this can only happen if we make time to open our Bibles and give God the time He deserves daily.
