A Heart Filled With A Verse For Christmas

“And the angel said to them, ‘Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.'” Luke 2:10-11 (ESV)

Best Gift Ever

The birth of Jesus was the best gift ever, friends! I love reading about it. It’s a story I reread over and over again, and never grow tired of hearing. It’s a joyous story about God’s greatest gift. If you’ve never read it, or it’s been a hot minute, make sure to take some time this Christmas season and read it for yourself. (Luke 1 & 2, Matthew 1 & 2) It’s the good news your heart is longing to be filled with!

JESUS’ BIRTH IS WHY WE CELEBRATE!

Rejoice with the angels! They came down from Heaven to share the good news of our Savior’s birth.

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased!”
Luke 2:14 (ESV)

Can we just take a moment and put ourselves in the shepherds’ sandals?! How amazing would it be to be about your shepherd business, tending to your flock out in the fields, and BAM a special angel decides to tell you all about the best gift ever?! And, it doesn’t stop there! God’s glory is shining all around. Then, all of a sudden, you’re surrounded by a multitude of angels belting out some praise to God. Seriously, friends this story just gets better and better every time I read it.

Luke keeps pouring out the details for us about this special night. Once the angels leave, the shepherds hit the road for Bethlehem!

“And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this Child.”
Luke 2:16-17 (ESV)

JESUS’ BIRTH IS GOOD NEWS WORTH SHARING!

The shepherds did not waste any time. They went straight to Bethlehem! They got to see Immanuel – God with us – wrapped up snug, lying in a manger, soon after He was born. HOW AMAZING!! The shepherds didn’t stop there though! Did you catch what Luke 2:17 said? They spread the good news! They shared the news of the best gift ever with those around them.

“And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.”
Luke 2:18 (NKJV)

The story of Jesus’ birth is packed with full of love. Love for ALL people! God came to earth as a Babe, lying in a manger, and grew to be a man that died on the cross for all people. He is our Redeemer, Lord, and Savior. He is this great joy our hearts long to be filled with. His great joy is for all people! So, let’s be like these shepherds!! Let’s go out and share the good news of Jesus’ birth with those around us.
