Blessed Rest

One of the special things God provides fellow Believers is blessed rest!! This is one of those blessings I take for granted. It’s a blessing I don’t always acknowledge. My mind is always racing a million miles an hour. If you read my about page you know I like crazy ventures, I set HUGE goals, and I dream BIG. I constantly keep busy. And, to be honest, this isn’t always good for me or those around me. It’s in these constantly busy moments that I will see God step in and give me those time outs I don’t want to take. You know what I mean??

Here’s an example…

The summer I graduated from high school my plans were interrupted by some blessed rest! I was so excited for the summer and had lots of things I wanted to do. My friends were all going to be heading away to college in the fall and I wanted to spend as much time as I could with them before they left. I just started dating my future husband, and was looking forward to hanging out with him.

AND…BAM!!!

My body decided to get sick, like…REAL SICK!!! I was always on the go and my body was done with “on the go”. I was told, by the doctor and my parents, I had to rest. This meant I couldn’t leave the house. I had to lay low. UGH!!! This was so annoying to me, I really hated it. I was so mad. But, I look back on those LONG, horrible, restful weeks…seriously, it felt like years…and I am SO THANKFUL I got sick.

My Heavenly Father knows when my body needs rest, and He also knows when I’m going to be too stubborn to admit it. So, out of His genuine, loving care for me He shows up and dishes it out for me. Again, thankful He steps in – THANKFUL He knows my needs better than I do! AND…super thankful for all the blessed rest moments He’s given me throughout the years.

God is the Author & Perfecter

God knows!!! He really knows when our bodies need to slow down. I mean, after all, He is the Author of REST!! So, it’s in these blessed rest moments I’ve learned to embrace His care, His love, and His attention towards my needs. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to terms (well, most of the time) with this particular blessing and I wholeheartedly cherish what this verse says! I am able to say, “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!”, and I’m so thankful for my Creator’s blessed refuge.

Friends, God understands. AND…guess what?! He’s gonna show up and He’s gonna supply you with everything you need…not always your wants, but for sure ALL of your needs including blessed rest. (Philippians 4:19)
