Example of Rest

The New Testament is such a treasure for the heart! It begins with a glimpse into Jesus’ life, teaching us all about His character and ways. Jesus’ life example shows us how to live while we sojourn through this world. I’m just so thankful I can learn all about Christ’s time while He walked the Earth, and so thankful He shows me the way!

Luke 5:16 is one of the many verses we read about Jesus seeking solitude in the New Testament. It’s during these times that He shows us a great example of rest! We can rest in His presence when we pray. Prayer is an essential part of the Christian walk! We learn about this “way to live” when we dive into the story of the Messiah, our Savior, Redeemer, and Lord. We learn that Jesus made time for prayer, and because He made time for prayer we should also make time for prayer.

“In the days of His flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to Him who was able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence. Although He was a Son, He learned obedience through what He suffered. And being made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.”

Hebrews 5:7-9 (ESV)

I’m so thankful Jesus demonstrated this essential part of the Christian walk!

I’m so thankful that Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross made the way for us! The veil was torn, giving all Believers an open communication line. We get to pray directly to Him because of His sacrifice.

An example of rest is PRAYER!

Jesus showed us the way and then gave us the way!!!

Jesus’ Example of Rest Is Powerful

Did you notice how Luke 5:16 says Jesus “often” withdrew?? Often means “many times/frequently”. I’m speechless!! Friends, Jesus is our example!! And…when we choose to follow His example and pray often, we meet Him right where we are. No matter our circumstances, no matter the situation, no matter what’s going on in our lives prayer draws us closer to our Savior. Prayer brings rest to our souls, minds, bodies, hearts!! I’m absolutely in love with Jesus’ example of rest in this Bible verse, and I’m actually more in love with the fact that the New Testament is flooded with example after example. It’s so powerful!! Seriously, open your Bible and check it out for yourself!!
