He Fills Me With Wonder – SURPRISE FLOWERS

“Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will He clothe you – you of little faith!”

Luke 12:27-28 (NIV)

Surprise Flowers

This summer I planted flower seeds I bought from my dollar store, because a friend had mentioned that she buys them and sprinkles them around her yard. I was looking for ways to cut back on how much I spend on the flowers I plant, so I went early enough in the season and bought a variety! Excitement filled my heart as I went to plant them in my barrels and even more excitement flooded in as I watched the flowers pop up in an array of beautiful splendor. AND, so…my summer was filled with SURPRISE FLOWERS!

God’s Majestic Handiwork

God really does grace us with some amazing blessings. All we need to do is look around and we’ll see His wonderful blessings everywhere. These surprise flowers were such a fun way God splashed my summer with blessings, and I looked forward to each and every morning’s peek outside. Almost every time I gazed out at my surprise flowers there was another color, another design, another petal perfected by our Creator’s hands!

“So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”

I Corinthians 3:7(NIV)

In I Corinthians 3:7, Paul is reminding the Corinthians that the words they speak (aka the planting and watering) are nothing without God’s cultivating growth. While this verse is more of an analogy, and has a much deeper meaning, it can help us gain a better glimpse into the life-cycle of the flowers we plant in our summer gardens. Because when the flowers begin to bloom we get to see God’s mighty work of growth play out right before our eyes! We are graced with their beauty for only a short time though, like Luke 12:28 says – here today, gone tomorrow. A life-cycle perfected by the Ultimate Cultivator! So, make sure to stay alert and stand in awe of how God’s growth works.

Be Filled With Wonder

My summer was filled with joy as each new surprise flower popped up in one of my whiskey barrels. It made my heart happy and gave me even more to thank God for. This, my friends, is a heart filled with wonder and amazement!

“The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.”

Isaiah 58:11(NLT)

Have you allowed God to fill you with wonder lately? Look around! Standing in awe of His wonders is like a reviving drink of water for the soul! So…

Go on a surprise flower hunt!

The next time you visit a greenhouse, go for a stroll through your park, or decide to plant your own flower garden look closely at the beauty God paints into each and every flower petal. Our world is filled with so many surprise flowers! Be amazed by God’s majestic handiwork, so perfectly crafted. He wants us to look around and enjoy each one of His wondrously designed masterpieces. Stand in awe of His beautiful work, knowing His hands are Mighty.

Oh, how God fills me with wonder!

Bible Facts – Surprise Flowers

As I write this I find myself reminiscing about all the summers past. Each summer my family takes a trip to our local greenhouse and brings home flowers to fill our flower pots with – it’s my favorite summer outing. When we were knee-deep in the homeschooling years the teacher in me would turn these flower planting seasons into some fun teachable moments! Exploring God’s creation together with my kids has filled my memory bucket up with cherished moments I’ll hold onto for FOREVER!

Since I’ve mentioned “teachable moments” how bout we take a peek at a few more Bible verses that revolve around the stunning surprise flowers God cultivates our world with!

Flowers are part of God’s creation, and He designed the cycle needed for them to grow and thrive! (Genesis 1:9-13)

God created flowers for us to enjoy! (Song of Songs 2:12)

Flowers bloom, grow, and die – full of beauty! (Matthew 6:28-30)

A flowers life-cycle is short! (Psalms 103:15-16, I Peter 1:23-25)

Flowers teach us not to worry!! (Luke 12:27-31)

These verses speak of God’s delicate and perfect design for every single flower He created, creates, and will create. Let’s delight in the Scripture and allow Him to fill us up with wonder! Friends, God created flowers for us to enjoy and they are always blooming and fading around us. What wonderful reminders of God’s care and provision for us!

“No Scripture is exhausted by a single explanation. The flowers of God’s garden bloom not only double, but sevenfold; they are continually pouring forth fresh fragrance.”

Charles Spurgeon

I’m so thankful God created flowers for us to enjoy! Aren’t you?! God’s beauty is all around us and flowers are just one of the many wonderful wonders of God’s creation! I’m thankful and blessed God allows surprise flowers to pop up around me. I pray you also are able to be blessed with surprise flowers in your life.

Have you thanked God for the surprise flowers in your life?

As surprise flowers bloom around you make sure to take it all in. Stop and smell them and just stand in awe! When we take the time to enjoy God’s wonders our hearts fill up with thankfulness toward The One who created it all. Our Heavenly Father knows our hearts and knows what we need each day to help brighten them. Thanking Him for the little things is just as important as thanking Him for the big things, and when we do this it does wonders for us and those around us.

Stand in awe of God’s Wonders!

As I was researching for this post I came across another quote I wanted to share. I just love how it’s worded! The next time you stop and smell a rose remember the sweet fragrance is a smile sent down from God above.
