A Song In Our Heart
SYMPHONY (a song to fill our hearts with)
Sometimes it’s hard to breath
All these thoughts that shout at me
Try to bring me to my knees
And it’s overwhelming
Darkness echoes all around
Feels like everything is crashing down
Still I know where my hope is found
And it’s only You
-Switch (feat. Dillon Chase), lyrics from “Symphony”
I just want to give a shout out to the writers, singers, composers – everyone involved in making the song, Symphony, come to life. This song came out in 2019 and has had me turn up the volume millions of times in my home and on the road since. Well, maybe not millions…but close to it!! I love everything about this song!! So, a big thank you to the members of Switch! What a wonderful way to portray how God takes every single piece of our lives and turns it into a beautiful melody that soothes the soul.
There is hope, and it’s found in God alone!!!
He is writing a symphony out of our lives! And, just like this song says…He’s using every single detail. It’s what makes it all come together. The tune would not be complete without it all.
We’ve all tasted suffering!
Way back when, God used this song during a part of my life that had left my heart shattered in a million pieces scattered all around. This world is full of so much evil! I knew this, but to have it hit home so closely really hurt. It left a giant hole in my heart only God would be capable of healing. It’s one of those healing processes that has no time limit, because God’s timing is not ours. I don’t know any other way to explain those first few years except for it felt like I died a little more on the inside every time my thoughts got wrapped up in it.
As I walked through those years processing everything I’m so thankful God graced me with the joys of every day life, but friends…it still hurt and it still left me utterly crushed. It changed me and if you would have asked me a few months ago how I was doing I would have told you I still struggle with it. But, God kept showing up, kept writing my symphony, kept healing me, and as of today I can say the pieces of my shattered heart that I felt were scattered far beyond reach were definitely never out of reach of my Heavenly Father. In fact…
God will build back up what’s been broken better, stronger, and more beautiful in His time.
During these years, all I could do was pray. I cried out to my Heavenly Father constantly!! I cried SO MUCH!! I hurt SO MUCH!! And, while I will never fully understand the why behind any of it, I do know that God had a purpose in it all and God will use the pain for His glory. AND…
THIS SONG!!!
God’s timing was spot-on, friends. As I continued to walk through the healing process I heard this song for the first time and God flooded my heart! He lifted me up with the lyrics, and as I continued hitting replay I began to feel His peace. He was working on me as He was walking me through these trying times. There were many more songs, and many more ways God showed up during this time, and while it still hurts to think about today, I know it’s already went through God’s hands – EVERY SINGLE BIT OF IT!! God is the one that knows how the story ends. He’s the only one that does! So, I’m gonna choose to keep walking by Savior’s side because…
I know He’s still orchestrating the most harmonious melody
out of all the tragedy, all the heartbreak, all the loss – ALL OF IT!!
Good news, friends – God WILL keep His children going! With each day moving forward He WILL continue providing all that is needed. He will make a way. Healing will come and with the healing a sense of clarity and peace will settle in the hearts of those that chase after their Heavenly Father. This is all because of who He is! My hope is found in God alone and, as I keep pouring out my fears, concerns, and everything that weighs heavy on my heart to my Heavenly Father, I know…
God will compose beautiful out of every one of the notes!!
Some of the notes will be unruly, like the song says, but through all the chaos and all the madness there is peace – God’s peace! God’s peace helps us breath, calms the noise around us, and surrounds us with comforting assurance.
I heard this this song amidst my pain and sorrow, because I needed a way of drowning out the voices. This was God’s way of comforting me. I needed to be reminded that through all the chaos and all the madness God was working everything for my good. And not just for my good, but God was working everything for the good of all those involved.
It’s during all our soul-crushing, heart-shattering moments He shows up. When this song started playing on the radio, as I was driving down the road, God’s timing could not have been more perfect. He does that a lot, actually!! It’s who He is and it’s one of the many reasons why I love Him so! God showed up then, He keeps showing up now, and He’ll continue showing up. Guess what?? He’ll show up for you, too!! Again and again! It’s a hope found only in God!
Let’s fill our hearts with this song believing…
We get to live with hope found in the belief of who God is and what He’s orchestrating in our lives. Friends, faith in Him alone allows us to believe every word! We may not know what our tomorrows hold, but our Heavenly Father does! When our faith and trust lies solely on the Author and Perfecter, there’s only ever one outcome – a lasting hope!!! Now, that is a beat worth tuning our hearts towards!!
Did you read the lyrics I added at the beginning of this post? (If you didn’t, scroll back up and read through them.) Do you feel those words deep down in your soul? The overwhelming emotions, the echoing darkness, the thought that everything is crashing down around you?? Oh friend, I know how it feels and I pray you are able to really hear the words God is speaking to you through this song. Turn up the volume and listen…and, if need be, GO AHEAD AND HIT REPLAY! God will help drown out ALL the voices surrounding you as He CONTINUES writing your symphony.
