Refocused Purpose Week 7: Esther 7 & Proverbs 19-21

A Heart Filled Fall Bible Reading Plan

I’m so excited to be sharing this Bible Reading Plan with all my readers!

Let’s look at what it’s all about…

Refocused Purpose – A Bible Reading Plan For The Fall – allows readers to dive into both the books of Esther and Proverbs!! Weaving these two books of the Bible together into one Bible Reading Plan does wonders for the heart!!

It’s a Bible Reading Plan that’s designed to help refocus our attention on God’s ways, purpose, and wisdom.

Refocused Purpose Week 7 - Esther 7 & Proverbs 19-21 (A Bible Reading Plan For The Fall)

Esther – Chapter 7 (Scene 7)

Setting: Esther’s Private Quarters/2nd Banquet

Time: Reign of King Xerxes, around 473 BC

Refocused Purpose - A Bible Reading Plan For The Fall (Esther & Proverbs)

Things go down in this week’s chapter of Esther!! Things only God could have orchestrated!! I’m talking about…

AMAZING!!

POWERFUL!!

GOD MOVES!!

First, we learn that King Xerxes’ heart is still super generous towards Esther, as he is still offering to give her whatever she desires. Second, we continue to see God’s strength boldly shining through the heroine of the story. And, lastly, we find Haman harshly reaping what he sowed straight from a prideful, arrogant heart.

Facts gathered from Esther chapter 7…

  • King Xerxes offers to grant Esther’s request, whatever it may be. (Esther 7:2)
  • Esther boldly exposes Haman’s evil plot. (Esther 7:3-6)
  • Haman realizes his own life is in jeopardy. (Esther 7:6)
  • King Xerxes becomes very angry when he learns the truth. (Esther 7:5, 7)
  • Haman pleas for his life and gets caught in a compromising position. (Esther 7:7-8)
  • King Xerxes learns about the pole Haman had set up to impale Mordecai on. (Esther 7:9)
  • King Xerxes orders Haman to be impaled on said pole where Haman ultimately meets his doomed fate. (Esther 7:9-10)

What we learn in Esther chapter 7…

  • God is always working the scene!
  • God’s strength makes a way every single time.
  • Our plans can’t compare to God’s plans.
  • God protects His people.
  • With God nothing is impossible.
  • In the end, evil deeds reap harsh consequences.

God’s “behind the scenes” work in this week’s chapter swept through the verses swiftly and efficiently. What else can I say, but…He got the job done!

God immediately got to work, as we see in just the first few verses, and just kept working His divine plans out all the way to the very last verse!

POWERFUL, MIGHTY GOD MOVES!!

Beware…

“Keep the commandments and keep your life; despising them leads to death.”

Proverbs 19:16 (NLT)

Proverbs – Chapters 19-21

I absolutely love how Proverbs solidifies everything we’ve been reading about in Esther! They pair so well together!

As we continue to dig into Proverbs we continue to see the parallels between a righteous, humbled heart and an evil, pride-filled heart. We learn that honesty, understanding, and wisdom exist together in the lives of those who commit wholeheartedly to a life with their Savior. We also see that pride, deceit, and foolishness lead down a crooked path full of destruction, pain, and ultimately death. The cherry on top is the fact that we see a God – filled with love and compassion – who wants His children to grab hold of His words, bask in all their awe and glory, and allow them to penetrate deep down inside the heart!

“To acquire wisdom is to love oneself; people who cherish understanding will prosper.”

Proverbs 19:8 (NLT)

Friends, God is our Creator!! He knows us and wants the very best for us! That’s why He sent His Son to die on the cross for us – for our sins!! That’s why the Holy Spirit came!! AND…that’s why God gave us His living Word – the B I B L E!!

When we conscientiously live out our lives seeking His will we see just what it means to live life to the fullest, thriving and abundantly overflowing with His joy and peace!! This is amazing, wonderful, powerful news!!

Where’s your heart?

Our hearts were created to be filled! Filled with the Holy Spirit! Filled with God’s love!! Filled with Scripture! A heart filled is where it’s at, friends!! So, can I ask…Where’s your heart?

“Who can say, ‘I have cleansed my heart; I am pure and free from sin’?”

Proverbs 20:9 (NLT)

A heart needs constant renewal – Proverbs 20:9 reminds us of this!

Friends, time spent with God needs to be a constant in our daily routine. In fact, God needs to be our top priority! Because, when He’s at the top our hearts continually get the cleansing needed to allow us to refocus on the purpose He has planned.

THIS, MY FRIENDS, IS THE TRUTH TO LIVE BY!!

“Though good advice lies deep within the heart, a person with understanding will draw it out.”

Proverbs 20:5 (NLT)
Refocused Purpose - A Bible Reading Plan For The Fall (Esther & Proverbs)

IT’S THE TRUTH THAT WE…

GROW WITH!

SHINE ON WITH!

PROSPER WITH!

THRIVE WITH!

Where’s your commitments?

When we grab onto this kind of truth we align our commitments with the only ones that will matter in the end! The ones that serve out a purpose far greater than our minds could ever comprehend. The kind of commitments that continue the ripple effect Jesus started when He ordered the great commission!

“Jesus came and told His disciples, ‘I have been given all authority in Heaven and on Earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.'”

Matthew 28:18-20 (NLT)

Friends, HE IS WITH US!!! AND…as Believers, it’s our duty to go out into the world and spread the Good News. This is exciting!! It’s our job to spread His light around everywhere we go.

Brightly shining for all to see!!

When we commit to a life chasing after Jesus, we learn to boldly step out in faith and just “do” knowing full well He’s got it all covered. God just needs our committed hearts. You see how He’s been working in and through Esther, right?!? He’ll do the same for us!

How about we allow Esther’s story to continually encourage us today, tomorrow, and every day after!

Friends, grab hold of the truth and keep moving forward with THE KING OF THE UNIVERSE!!

As you make your way through the book of Esther look for God and His miracle-working ways. Watch Him unfold His divine plans for Esther and Mordecai’s lives right before your very eyes. Be amazed and encouraged!! AND THEN, as you dive into Proverbs, open up your heart and allow God to work the scene and accomplish His work inside you.
