Renewing Scripture: Daniel – Part 2

Renewing Scripture: Daniel – Part 2

renewing scripture: Daniel - Part 2

Let’s revive our hearts and minds with some renewing scripture found in the Major Prophets!

Daniel is the last book in the Major Prophets section of the Old Testament. If you missed my Renewing Scripture posts for the other books make sure to check them out HERE!

The book of Daniel shows us just how much God works in and through those that walk faithfully by His side. God is sovereign over everything, and because of this I rejoice.

The Second Part of Daniel: Daniel’s Visions (7:1-12:13)

The last 6 chapters in Daniel are filled with visions.

As these chapters are being read it’s important to remember God is in control! We can take heart because God promises all His children a victory in the end, and eternal life with Him. (Daniel 12:13) No matter the circumstances around us God’s peace and joy sustain us. These last 6 chapters lift us up and encourage us to keep walking with the Ancient One (Daniel 7:9), THE Author of Life!

Like Daniel and his friends, I long to walk with bold faith and confident humility! What about you? Are you ready to get your bold faith on and walk in confident humility as you serve The True and Faithful King? I hope you said yes! Cuz…

I’m sharing some of the renewing scripture the Holy Spirit has been stirring my heart with as I read through each of the Major Prophets found in the Old Testament.

Open your heart to receive God’s renewing strength and repent the sins that weigh heavy on your heart. Return to the One who loves you beyond measure and serve Him with enthusiasm and gladness.

It’s all about A HEART FILLED, friends!

(1) Daniel 7:9-10

  • I absolutely love how verse 9 refers to God as the Ancient One. (Other translations use “Ancient of Days”…another version I absolutely love as well!!) This really revived me! This scripture passage goes on to describe what God looked like. I just stand in pure awe over the sight of His Majesty! Renewal is found in what God is called and how He is described! God’s whole being is beautiful, uplifting, and music for my heart. He is majestic holiness!

“(9)I watched as thrones were put in place and the Ancient One sat down to judge. His clothing was as white as snow, His hair like purest wool. He sat on a fiery throne with wheels of blazing fire, (10)and a river of fire was pouring out, flowing from His presence. Millions of angels ministered to Him; many millions stood to attend Him. Then the court began its session, and the books were opened.”

Daniel 7:9-10 (NLT)

(2) Daniel 7:13-14

  • Jesus, the Messiah, is our hope! We can continue walking boldly for the Ancient One because His kingdom is eternal.

“(13)As my vision continued that night, I saw someone like a son of man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient One and was led into His presence. (14)He was given authority, honor, and sovereignty over all the nations of the world, so that people of every race and nation and language would obey Him. His rule is eternal – it will never end. His kingdom will never be destroyed.

Daniel 7:13-14 (NLT)

(3) Daniel 7:26-27

  • Verse 26 is referring to the fourth beast when mentioning “all his power will be taken away” and it’s our reminder that all the evil in the world will not prevail. God will put an end to it all. Christians can find hope in the Most High’s promise of redemption. All those that persecute God’s people will be defeated. (Mark 16:16)

“(26)But then the court will pass judgment, and all his power will be taken away and completely destroyed. (27)Then the sovereignty, power, and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be given to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will last forever, and all rulers will serve and obey Him.”

Daniel 7:26-27 (NLT)

(4) Daniel 8:14b

  • A breath of fresh air, friends! I look forward to the day when God’s Temple will be made right again. This is where we can find the strength to keep moving forward and going about God’s business. Bold faith and confident humility wins the race! Eternity awaits those who have turned their lives over to Jesus. Have you accepted the free gift of salvation? (John 3:16) Giving my life over to my Savior and Redeemer has been the best thing I’ve ever done! Walking with the Ancient One fills your heart with amazing joy, love, peace, and strength. It’s a rewarding journey full of hope!

“…then the Temple will be made right again.”

Daniel 8:14b (NLT)

(5) Daniel 8:25

  • The visions Daniel talks about in the last part of the book is all about our future! Jesus will win the battle, He is the Prince of princes. No force can withstand Him. Hallelujah!

“He will be master of deception and will become arrogant; he will destroy many without warning. He will even take on the Prince of princes in battle, but he will be broken, though not by human power.”

Daniel 8:25 (NLT)

(6) Daniel 9:2

  • I find it so incredible that the word of God has stood the test of time. I’ve always marveled at how stories make their way from one generation to the next. It’s just so amazing that over the course of history God’s words are part of those stories that have hung around and made their way to the 21st century. Let this verse inspire you! Our stories may never hit the media, or make their way into history books, but the words we speak can live on in the hearts of those around us and we will never know just how far those words will spread. God used Jeremiah to write the words Daniel needed to hear in this moment we read in verse 2, and He can use us as well! Chase after Him, friends! Open your Bible, fill your heart, and go spread the good news! (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

“During the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, learned from reading the word of the Lord, as revealed to Jeremiah the prophet, that Jerusalem must lie desolate for seventy years.”

Daniel 9:2 (NLT)

(7) Daniel 9:4-6

  • This is a great prayer example! First glorify God, giving thanks for all He is and all He’s done. Then, repent! Friends, we can’t serve God to the fullest with unresolved sin in our lives. It’s so important to humble ourselves before our Lord. So, get honest with yourself and your Maker. Let go of the sins that weigh heavy on your heart and return to the arms of Jesus.

“(4)I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed: ‘O Lord, you are a great and awesome God! You always fulfill your covenant and keep your promises of unfailing love to those who love you and obey your commands. (5)But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations. (6)We have refused to listen to your servants the prophets, who spoke on your authority to our kings and princes and ancestors and to all the people of the land.”

Daniel 9:4-6 (NLT)

(8) Daniel 9:9

  • God forgives! God’s grace in sufficient! Find renewing hope in this, friends.

“But the Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against Him.”

Daniel 9:9 (NLT)

(9) Daniel 9:17

  • God’s smile is a warm, cozy blanket of happiness. When we turn to Him with a repenting heart He hears us and He smiles!

O our God, hear your servant’s prayer! Listen as I plead. For your own sake, Lord, smile again on your desolate sanctuary.”

Daniel 9:17 (NLT)

(10) Daniel 10:5-6

  • This reiterates the first verse I mentioned! Renewal is found in what God is called and how He is described! God’s whole being is beautiful, uplifting, and music for my heart. He is majestic holiness! Stand in awe, friends! Stand in awe!

“(5)I looked up and saw a man dressed in linen clothing, with a belt of pure gold around His waist. (6)His body looked like a precious gem. His face flashed like lightning, and His eyes flames like torches. His arms and feet shone like polished bronze, and His voice roared like a vast multitude of people.”

Daniel 10:5-6 (NLT)

(11) Daniel 10:12

  • This is another great prayer example! Pray for understanding….check! Humble ourselves before God….check! God hears our prayers, friends. Be faithful, genuine, and honest in your prayer life.

“Then he said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer of your prayer.'”

Daniel 10:12 (NLT)

(12) Daniel 10:19

  • “Don’t be afraid”, “Be strong”….these are repeated over and over again in the Bible. That means something, friends! God is clearly wanting us to believe this with all our heart! Insert your name at the beginning of this verse! Read it aloud, and know God is speaking to you. (For further encouragement, read Psalms 27:14, Joshua 1:9, Isaiah 41:10, and Deuteronomy 31:6. Then, do some digging of your own and find a few more verses that reference this theme. The Bible is flooded with them!)

‘Don’t be afraid,’ he said, ‘for you are very precious to God. Peace! Be encouraged! Be strong!’

Daniel 10:19 (NLT)

(13) Daniel 11:35

  • We can thank God when we fall victim to persecution, friends. (1 Thessalonians 5:18) I know this is not easy to hear, and that walking through persecution can be so, so hard!! In fact, it really sucks, but, when it’s all said and done we get to look back and KNOW God was drawing us closer and closer to Him each and every time. When life throws us super-rotten-stinky lemons find healing with God’s super-sweet refreshing lemonade! Remember, God is working in and through us, refining us for the journey ahead! I love knowing God is continually refining me, and if you are going through persecution may you also find a renewing love for God’s refining ways.

“And some of the wise will fall victim to persecution. In this way, they will be refined and cleansed and made pure until the time of the end, for the appointed time is still to come.”

Daniel 11:35 (NLT)

(14) Daniel 12:3

  • I love Bible verses that talk about shining bright for Jesus! I pray God continues working in and through me so I can shine bright like the stars forever. I pray you too, friend, are able to shine bright! (To read more about shining bright for Jesus, check out my Shine Bright For Jesus Devo Series! CLICK HERE)

“Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever.”

Daniel 12:3 (NLT)

(15) Daniel 12:13

  • God’s work in and through our lives is for a purpose far greater than we will ever know! Keep serving Jesus with all your heart, friends. In the end, God will call all His children home to glory!

As for you, go your way until the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days, you will rise again to receive the inheritance set aside for you.”

Daniel 12:13 (NLT)

Studying the book of Daniel lit my heart on fire, friends. It had me bursting out with excitement. Literally! God’s radiant glory is abounding, His promises never cease, and His love for us is HUGE! He will be coming back to take all His children home. Let’s put our hope in our eternal future! (Titus 1:2) It’s exciting to know one day we will be walking the streets of gold side-by-side THE ANCIENT ONE! I’m praying after reading this you, too, are revved up and ready to go out into the world and spread the good news!

The book of Daniel is filled with so much renewing goodness. If you haven’t read through the entire book I highly recommend it! And, make sure to check out the other posts in my Renewing Scripture series!
