(1) Ezekiel 34:11-16
“(11)For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I Myself will search and find My sheep. (12)I will be like a shepherd looking for his scattered flock. I will find My sheep and rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on that dark and cloudy day. (13)I will bring them back home to their own land of Israel from among the peoples and nations. I will feed them on the mountains of Israel and by the rivers and in all the places where people live. (14)Yes, I will give them good pastureland on the high hills of Israel. There they will lie down in pleasant places and feed in the lush pastures of the hills. (15)I myself will tend My sheep and give them a place to lie down in PEACE, says the Sovereign Lord. (16)I will search for My lost ones who strayed away, and I will bring them safely home again. I will bandage the injured and strengthen the weak. But I will destroy those who are fat and powerful. I will feed them, yes – feed them justice!”

(27)When I bring them home from the lands of their enemies, I will display My holiness among them for all the nations to see. (28)Then my people will know that I am the Lord their God, because I sent them away to exile and brought them home again. I will leave none of my people behind. Reading through Ezekiel was a journey! There’s a lot of metaphors to work through and God had Ezekiel lay on the drama thick with each and every story we find in this book.
In chapters 34-48 we run across the story that Ezekiel is best known for – DEM DRY BONES! I referenced to this story found in chapter 37 a few times in the verses I listed above. There’s just something amazing about this story. I have so many fond memories of going through this story with my own kids as they were younger. God’s power, strength, and abundant love shines through when you read through Ezekiel 37:1-14. I also want to point out chapters 40-48, as there’s a lot going on in them. As you read through these chapters, I encourage you to focus on God’s PERFECT plan of restoration for His people. Zoom out and fill your heart knowing God is holy and perfect. He is there and His people are not forgotten!
There’s renewing treasure to be found in each and every wild and crazy story found in Ezekiel, so open your Bible and check them out for yourself.
