Renewing Scripture: Jeremiah-Part 3 (aheartfilled.com)

Fall is a great time to focus on renewing our hearts and minds and the Major Prophets are a great place to find some renewing scripture!

The second of five books that make up the Major Prophets is Jeremiah. If you missed my Renewing Scripture posts, for the book of Isaiah, make sure to check them out HERE!

I’m sharing some of the renewing scripture the Holy Spirit has been stirring my heart with as I read through each of the Major Prophets found in the Old Testament. Like Isaiah, Jeremiah is also a super deep, intense, amazing book filled with renewing scripture to help encourage and strengthen us as we continue to be faithful and put our hope in the ONE TRUE GOD.

Side Note – I’ve referenced all the verses using the NLT version, but I love exploring different translations so I encourage you to find your favorite translation for each. Delight in your search!

(1) Jeremiah 30:24

  • God’s plans prevail!

“The fierce anger of the Lord will not diminish until it has finished all He has planned. In the days to come you will understand all this.”

Jeremiah 30:24 (NLT)

(2) Jeremiah 31:3

  • Renew yourself with this verse! Replace “my people” with YOUR NAME. Know that God also loves you with His everlasting, unfailing, amazing love.

“Long ago the Lord said to Israel: ‘I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.

Jeremiah 31:3 (NLT)

(3) Jeremiah 31:33

  • God wants a personal relationship with us! We are His people! It’s not about religion, friends. It’s about our relationship with Him. When we open our Bibles God writes His words upon our hearts. He’s constantly renewing us with every page turn of His Mighty Word.

“‘But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel on that day,’ says the Lord, ‘I will put my instructions deep within them, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.'”

Jeremiah 31:33 (NLT)

(4) Jeremiah 32:27

  • This verse is such a great renewing reminder! Remember this truth as you move forward with your Heavenly Father.

“I am the Lord, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?”

Jeremiah 32:27 (NLT)

(5) Jeremiah 32:40-41

  • Our relationship with the Lord is everlasting and eternal! It’s a special relationship where God finds joy in doing good for us – a love beyond measure. He is faithful and our desire for Him should be just as faithful.

“(40)And I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good for them. I will put a desire in their hearts to worship Me, and they will never leave Me. (41)I will find joy doing good for them and will faithfully and wholeheartedly replant them in this land.”

Jeremiah 32:40-41 (NLT)

(6) Jeremiah 33:6-9

  • God’s provisions are abundant! He provides for His children. He restores us.

“(6)Nevertheless, the time will come when I will heal Jerusalem’s wounds and give it prosperity and true peace. (7)I will restore the fortunes of Judah and Israel and rebuild their towns. (8)I will cleanse them of their sins against me and forgive all their sins and rebellion. (9)Then this city will bring me joy, glory, and honor before all the nations of the earth! The people of the world will see all the good I do for my people, and they will tremble with awe at the peace and prosperity I provide for them.

Jeremiah 33:6-9 (NLT)

(7) Jeremiah 39:18

  • Eternal life is the reward for all those who put their trust in God Almighty! Turn to Jesus, friends.

Because you trusted me, I will give you your life as a reward. I will rescue you and keep you safe. I, the Lord, have spoken.”

Jeremiah 39:18 (NLT)

(8) Jeremiah 46:27-28

  • Do not be afraid! God is the Just Ruler of the world. His peace is available to all His children.

“‘(27)But do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant; do not be dismayed, Israel. For I will bring you home again from distant lands, and your children will return form their exile. Israel will return to a life of peace and quiet, and no one will terrorize them. (28)Do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant, for I am with you,’ says the Lord. ‘I will completely destroy the nations to which I have exiled you, but I will not completely destroy you. I will discipline you, but with justice; I cannot let you go unpunished.'”

Jeremiah 46:27-28 (NLT)

(9) Jeremiah 49:19b

  • God is mighty! Nothing can stand in His way!

“For who is like Me, and who can challenge Me? What ruler can oppose My will?”

Jeremiah 49:19b (NLT)

(10) Jeremiah 51:15-19

  • The NLT has this section titled “A Hymn of Praise to the Lord”. Wow! There is power in the words of the Bible. God is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all around us! Friends, praise Him for who He is and what He does.

“(15)The Lord made the earth by His power, and He preserves it by His wisdom. With His own understanding He stretched out the heavens. (16)When He speaks in the thunder, the heavens are filled with water. He causes the clouds to rise over the earth. He sends the lightning with the rain and releases the wind from His storehouses. (17)The whole human race is foolish and has no knowledge! The craftsmen are disgraced by the idols they make, for their carefully shaped works are fraud. These idols have no breath or power. (18)Idols are worthless; they are ridiculous lies! On the day of reckoning they will all be destroyed. (19)But the God of Israel is no idol! He is the Creator of everything that exists, including His people, His own special possession. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is His name!

Jeremiah 51:15-19 (NLT)

Reading through Jeremiah has given me a tremendous opportunity to renew my mind and heart. It’s filled with reminders, wisdom, and warnings, as well as God’s grace and mercy. In the midst of all the chaos and destruction, God keeps His people on His mind and has a plan of restoration for them. That’s hope, friends! No matter what we’ve done, we all have the opportunity to turn to Jesus and repent. AND, when we do, God’s peace and joy is ours!

The book of Jeremiah is filled with SO MUCH renewing scripture. I only scratched the surface with this list. If you haven’t read through the entire book, make sure to take time for that soon and check out my other posts in my Renewing Scripture series – more will be coming soon!
