Shine Bright For Jesus Devotion Series Intro

“Shine bright for Jesus!”

This is my all time favorite mom quote! I find myself including this in almost every conversation I have with my kids. I love shining bright for Jesus, and love reminding my kids to shine bright for Him as well. At times it can be a challenge. And, God understands this! That’s why He’s available 24/7. He wants us to know this with all our heart and live it out daily. It sure does take a conscience effort, though, to keep God at the center of our everything. Are you all about that sparkle?! I am and I’m here to encourage you to be as well. Shining bright for Him can make all the difference inward and outward.

I love how every time I open my Bible a new verse speaks to me and has me pondering how I can be more like Him as the days wear on. And, the Bible is filled with so many great verses reminding us how to shine bright for Jesus. I’m on a mission not only to fill my Bible journal with them all but to spread them around like little rays of sunshine, so this is a devotion series that will be continually growing, and there’s no set order for reading them in. Make sure to check back often and join me as I seek out all the little bursts of sunshine the Bible is flooded with to help us all keep shining as we go.

Shine Bright Devotion 5

Psalms 119:105

“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalms 119:105 (NKJV)

Shine Bright Scripture Chat

God has given us the one and ONLY guidebook we need to navigate our time on earth.  THE BIBLE!  The pages are filled with God-breathed words full of truth, hope, love, and comfort not only to help get us through every single day, but to help us SHINE BRIGHT for Him.  When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior we receive the Holy Spirit who then indwells within us.  When we crack open our Bible, the Holy Spirit brings the words found on the pages to life inside us! It’s a personal, awe-inspiring journey!

“The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.”

Psalms 119:130 (ESV)

God lights the way! It’s so amazing to me to know that the Bible is the only light I will ever need to navigate through this dark and treacherous world. Psalms 119 is the LONGEST chapter in the Bible and it’s filled with great reminders of how wonderful God’s Word is and all it can do in the life of a person that chooses each day to open it up and fill their hearts. The words graciously written in this treasured book are for us all, and as we walk this earth we can shine bright because God lights our path.

Shine Bright Self-Work

Our light source MUST begin inward, at the heart of it all.  Once our heart begins filling with the Word of God our path is made known and our light starts burning bright for Jesus.  We begin to shine as we follow God down the pathway He has set for us.  A heart filled beams with a bright radiant glow and others begin to see Jesus in us.

“Your laws are my treasure; they are my heart’s delight.”

Psalms 119:111 (NLT)

It’s all about opening our hearts!

Shine Bright Goals

The Bible is filled with so much wisdom and insight to help us along our path.  When we embrace our devotion time with God, and allow the Holy Spirit to help guide us, His Word becomes clearer and clearer to us.  Sometimes we may even find the words jumping off the page and smacking us right in our face!  (Yes, figure of speech!  But, if you’ve experienced this you know what I’m talking about.  And, if you haven’t, well just you wait – YOUR TIME IS COMING!)

“Let me hear of Your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting You. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to You…Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. May Your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.”

Psalms 143:8, 10 (NLT)

So, goalsl?! Spend time with God!

  • Read the Bible
  • Listen for the Holy Spirit
  • Pray Often

SHINE ON

REFLECT ON IT – If we spent a fraction of the time we spend on everyday mundane tasks simply in God’s Word imagine how filled our hearts would be!? And, if we consistently made a conscious effort to be in His Word daily, I’m talking 365 days out of EVERY single year we are alive consistency, imagine how bright we all would be shining for Jesus!? There would be no room for darkness in this world, absolutely none. The hearts of God’s faithful and obedient children are able to bring light to every corner of this dark and dreary world. The Bible lights the way!

Now, lift up a prayer and go out and SHINE BRIGHT FOR JESUS today!
