The Lord Looks At The Heart

The Lord looks at our hearts! What a great Bible verse to hold fast to. Let’s zoom out a little and gain some context on where this verse is situated in the Bible. Samuel is on a mission to find Israel’s next king. God sends him to Bethlehem to visit a man name Jesse and his eight sons. Samuel took one look at the first son he meets and assumed that Eliab was the one, and this is where God reminds him it’s not about outward appearance.

God searches OUR HEARTS!

As the story goes on, Jesse introduces 7 of his sons to Samuel and none of them are the one chosen by God. Then we find out Jesse has one more son, the youngest, a shepherd boy out in the fields watching the flocks. Because “the Lord looks at the heart“, Samuel finds out David is the one he is to anoint. God knew David was going to grow into a man that sought after His own heart. David had something special that only God could see, because He knew his heart.

AND…God KNOWS our heart too!

It’s a HEART MATTER, friends! This Bible verse reminds us not to lose sight of how important our heart really is. We must strive to fill it with what matters most and work on it continuously, because this is where God looks. Start each day out by asking God to center your heart around Him. Allow God to flood your heart with His love, His words, His heart!
