A Song In Our Heart

KING OF THE WORLD (a song to fill our hearts with)

The One, The King - A Heart Filled With A Song

When did I forget that You’ve always been

The King of the World?

I try to take life back right out of the hands

Of the King of the World

How could I make You so small

When you’re the One who holds it all?

When did I forget that You’ve always been

The King of the World?

-Natalie Grant, lyrics from “King of the World”

Do you ever find yourself making God “small”? Trying to fit Him inside the walls of your own mind?!? Or, perhaps you are not recognizing, or have forgotten, just how worthy He truly is? Natalie Grant’s song, King of the World, is relatable. It defines how human perception, of who God is and all He is capable of, gets clouded by minds that don’t fully grasp how big, mighty, and powerful our God – the One, the King – really is.

It can be hard to imagine just how far the King of the World’s reach truly is, because our thoughts can only stretch so far. And, honestly a never ending reach isn’t an easy concept to wrap our brains around…in fact, it might not even be a concept we ever fully grasp. So, when I hear Natalie’s song it urges me to fill up with Scripture. It urges me to hunt down those verses that define just who my King is and just how extraordinary and wonderful all His splendor and glory really is.

Bible Dig For The One, The King

Seeking out the truth is what it’s all about! Friends, God’s Word, the Bible, is the book of truth. It’s where fellow Believers turn to fill up on inspired words straight from the King of the World. I’m talking about words that are God-breathed, perfect, and holy. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) Words that are alive, powerful, and pierce the soul!! (Hebrews 4:12) So, let’s dig into some Bible truths that flood our hearts with His infinite nature and mind-blowing deity!!

  • Psalms 103:19 states the truth of God’s divine and majestic title in just a few words. Friends, He is the One and Only King and He rules over all.

“The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His Kingdom rules over all.” Psalms 103:19(ESV)

  • 1 Chronicles 29:10-13 explains in detail just how awesome our God is! His kingdom is everything and it’s every where! He rules over it all. These verses also remind us that the King of the World’s greatness is worth honoring and praising!

“Then David praised the Lord in the presence of the whole assembly: ‘O Lord, the God of our ancestor Israel, may You be praised forever and ever! Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is Yours, O Lord, and this is Your kingdom. We adore You as the One who is over all things. Wealth and honor come from You alone, for You rule over everything. Power and might are in Your hand, and at Your discretion people are made great and given strength. O our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious name!'” 1 Chronicles 29:10-13(NLT)

  • John 18:36-37 are words straight from Jesus’ lips! I’m talking about the conversation God in flesh had with Pilate. In this conversation, the One – the King – testified about His kingdom, His power, and His reign in the world! These verses in John back up everything we read about God, the King, up to this point in the Bible. This is more of what I want to fill up on!! God has been, is now, and will always be the King of the World.

“Jesus said, ‘My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.‘ ‘You are a king, then!’ said Pilate. Jesus answered, ‘You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to Me.‘” John 18:36-37(NIV)

  • 1 Timothy 1:17 is where I’ll end the hunt, because it begins with our hearts. This verse reminds us to give the King of the World honor and glory always and forever!! This verse tells us God is the King; He is eternal, immortal, and invisible!!! Hallelujah!! He is the only God for me! How about you?!?

“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Timothy 1:17(NIV)

Friends, God is way more than we will ever comprehend, so don’t make Him so small! The King is worthy of all our praise and honor. He is worthy of all our respect and loyalty. He is worthy of our hearts!!

Let’s fill our hearts with this song believing…

We are children of the One – the King – that holds it all!! Before the world began God set it all in motionevery single moment!! He longs to be the One, the Only, King of our hearts! So, what are you waiting for?!? Let’s…

Wanna keep filling up?!?

Take some time and read through Psalms 145!! It’s amazing! David sure knows how to make a heart overflow with wonder and praise for the King of the World!!

May your heart always beat with love and adoration for the One, the King!!
